AT A GLANCE

Five checks for a sound fit

These checks are a quick reference for RetroGrip® inserts. The full PDF gives the detailed preparation, adhesive and fixing instructions.

  1. Check the groove with a sample. The insert must sit without rocking, with its wings flat against the deck.
  2. Clean and dry the decking.Remove dirt, grease, algae and cleaner residue from the timber and grooves.
  3. Prepare the inserts.Keep them clean and stored indoors before installation.
  4. Apply adhesive and seat each insert.Use the adhesive and method specified in the GripDeck guide, working one insert at a time.
  5. Allow at least 24 hours to cure.Do not walk on the inserts during the first 24 hours.

When the surface needs extra care

Uneven joints can place extra stress on an insert and its adhesive bond. GripDeck’s guide explains when to cut inserts at board joints and when additional screw fixing may be needed, including on busy or public-access routes.

Read the PDF for the complete cutting, drilling and screw sequence. These instructions apply to RetroGrip® inserts; ask GripDeck® for product-specific advice on Tread20, Tread50 and stair nosings.
